FACTORS & PREDICTORS OF HEALTH RELATED QUALITY OF LIFE IN PATIENTS OF KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS IN QUETTA, PAKISTAN
Abstract
Background: Among all degenerative disorders Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common type and affecting large number of population related with aging and frequently reported with disability. Health related quality of life (HRQoL)is remarkably impacted by OA and elaborated as the attributes valued by affected individuals, including resultant comfort or sense of wellbeing, and HRQoL is one of the important parameter to identify the positive outcomes of the any treatment conducted. Methods: A cross sectional survey was performed in Various health care centers of Quetta, Pakistan from July 2019 to September 2019. EQ5D-3L self-managed questionnaire was utilized with previously identified 392 patients of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 23 was applied to interpret the data. Results: The gross mean scores for EQ5D was 0.0504 ± 0.2560 and visual analogue sccale result was 54.33 ± 8.625. The significant participating factors that are notably related with lower HRQoL were age, gender and monthly income (p<0.05). Conclusion: The survey summarized that in patients with KOA had notably lower HRQoL. Precaution and timely management of KOA in older populace must be prioritized. The marked attention should be specified to older individuals having KOA, females, and individuals with low-cost income so HRQoL of KOA patient could be better and that ill health could be controlled efficiently and in good order.
