Perception of medical and paramedical staff about problems in management of Operation theatre in Children hospital and Institute of child health Lahore
Abstract
Objective: To identify the problems in management of operation theatre in Children hospital and Institute of Child health Lahore. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted in Main operation theatre of Children Hospital and Institute of Child health Lahore. Data was collected from both genders by using Convenient Sampling technique. A total of 25 staff members were included. The study population was divided into four strata including nurses, operation theatre technician, doctors (surgeons, anesthetists) and sweepers. Their responses checked by a Performa about problems in management of operation theatre. Results: The result showed that most of staff members strongly agreed to problems like insufficient and old equipment, absence of infection control committee, improper sterilization, no quality check of equipment, and no teaching programs. Staff members also agreed to unpunctuality of staff, improper timing and organization and improper ventilation of operation theatre. Conclusion: There are many problems in management of operation theatre regarding staff members, equipment, timings and sterilization. A proper leadership and organization can sort out these problems.
