EFFECT OF DYSMENORRHEA ON QUALITY OF LIFE AMONG UNIVERSITY OF LAHORE FEMALE HOSTELITES
Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the impact of dysmenorrhea on quality of life among female Hostilities of University of Lahore Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 203 female hostilities of university of Lahore. For the collection of data, participants completed EuroQol-5 dimensions-3 levels (EQ-5D-3L) which is used to measure the quality of life. Sample size was collected using non-probability convenient method technique. Written consent was taken and the importance of study was explained before filling the questionnaires Results: A total of 203 female participants completed the survey. In study the mean age was 21.36 years of the sample 24.1 %( n=41) did not suffer from dysmenorrhea, compared to 75.9 %( n=154) who reported having dysmenorrhea. Regarding their lifestyle in relation to sports activities performed, 42.4 %( n=86) of the sample acknowledged that they had no weekly routine with regard to exercising whereas 34.5 %( n=70) stated that they generally perform 1 to 3 hours of exercise a week and 23.2 %( n=47) stated that they usually exercise 4 to 6 hours per week Conclusion: Majority of women had dysmenorrhea and it influenced their life and restricted their daily activities. Women should aware about the management and precautions for dysmenorrhea. There is a strong association between dysmenorrhea and quality of life.
