Abstract

Islam is a religion of peace, sacrifice, welfare, sympathy and service to the community. Islam focuses on the welfare of society and betterment of humanity. An analysis of Islamic teaching shows that one-fourth of these is about belief and worshipping whereas three-fourths are about dealings with others. According to Islamic teachings the important aspects of a society include but not limited to: right of life, life security, safety and care of self-respect, right of justice and human equality etc. The welfare of society in the days of Holy Prophet (SAW) was based on the Quranic principle that Allah created mankind from one male and one female. Therefore, all the people are equal. Similarly, people used to spend money in the way of Allah and service to the community during the days of Holy Prophet (SAW). The Holy Prophet (SAW) has asked people to serve each other, spend money for helping needy people and work collectively for the uplift of society. After Hijrah, The Prophet (SAW) established a state where the governing principle was welfare of humanity. These are the main guidelines to be followed forever, till the day of judgement.
